HELEN GROVES

GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER OF
THE KING RANCH FOUNDER

HelenGroves.jpg

Helen Kleberg Groves is the only daughter of Robert Kelberg Jr, grandson of King Ranch founder Captain Richard King, and Helen Kleberg. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up on the historic King Ranch which is the largest operating cattle ranch in the United States and has produced many famous horses, including the Triple Crown winner Assault and the leading Cutting Horse sire Peppy San Badger.

It seemed natural for Helen to become an ambassador for the equine industry. Over the years she has become known as the “First Lady of Cutting,” spending more than two decades breeding, raising and riding cutting horses on her ranch while competing at almost every major show. Helen has also established herself as a major presence in breeding and racing thoroughbreds and a leading supporter of equine research.
